For the past 3 years, I’ve attended the Wedding MBA in Vegas with about 2000 other wedding pro’s from across the country and around the world. The Wedding MBA is a wedding business owner’s conference that focuses on best business practices and exceeding Bride’s expectations. Sessions also include updates of the latest trends, fashions, colors, decor and other wedding related topics that are, or will be, important to today’s bride and grooms.
The conference is not exclusive to any segment of the wedding industry. Wedding professionals attend from the fields of DJ’s, photography, invitations, cakes, videography, wedding planning, catering and the list goes on. What makes the Wedding MBA so rewarding to those of us who attend is the opportunity to learn how to better serve the brides and grooms who entrust us with one of the most important days of their lives from some of the most renowned experts in the wedding industry.
ABC’s 20/20 visited the 2 1/2 day, Wedding MBA conference this past October and will air footage and interviews they captured on Friday eve, January, 18, 2013, as a part of a segment titled “Wedding Confidential.” According to the ABC News blog:
“’20/20′ takes viewers behind the scenes of the cut throat* wedding industry and reveals tricks of the trade for not getting gouged, saving money and staying calm. The hour also explores the latest wedding trends from “Groomzillas” to couples kissing for the very first time when saying ‘I Do’. “ (…more)
*I’m unclear as to why ABC chose the term “cut throat” as it relates to the wedding industry. I would argue that “highly competitive” would be a more appropriate term.
Although the ABC News blog synopsis of the “Wedding Confidential” segment is written in a manner to tantalize viewers to watch, my hope is that they will actually address the wedding profession with the respect the majority of us in the profession have worked so hard to earn.
We invite you to come back to our blog after the airing at 9:00 p.m.(CST), Friday, January 18th, for reaction to their coverage.
