Eliu Hernandez of Broomfield, Colorado put his video editing skills to work in creating a fun, stop-motion animated film, titled “Broken Crayons,” to propose marriage to his long time girlfriend, Marissa Martinez.
According to the details posted on the “Broken Crayons,” YouTube video, Hernandez’s film includes “800+ photos over 10 hours in 2 days, 4 boxes of crayons, a dollar bill, a bunch of change, a lump of coal, several diamonds (not a broken bottle of salad dressing), an engagement ring, 2 sore shoulders and a crick in the neck!”
In an interview with KUSA-TV, Hernandez said when he finished the project, he asked Marissa to take a look at it.
As the final frames of the 2-1/2 minute film played, his stop-motion marriage proposal was revealed, “Bebe, I love you! Will you marry me? Please?”
“He was watching my expression the whole time, and my jaw dropped towards the end,” Martinez said. “I couldn’t answer him right away because I was just crying so hard. I couldn’t answer him right away because I was just crying so hard.”
Of course, just like the stop-motion marriage proposal video, this story also has a happy ending as Marissa eventually said “Yes!” to Eliu’s proposal.
