A Peek Inside Kansas City’s Newest Wedding Reception Venue: The River Market Event Place

As mentioned in a previous blog article and on the Ron Ruth Wedding Entertainment Facebook page, I had the pleasure of performing Master of Ceremony duties for the Bridal Open House at Kansas City’s newest wedding reception venue, the River Market Event Place (140 Walnut St., Kansas City, MO 64105).

The highly touted event took place last Friday evening, October 15th, and was attended by a good number of “nearlyweds” and Kansas City wedding professionals, alike.

As a Kansas City Wedding DJ and Wedding Entertainment Director™, I love venues with a floor plan that is unique but still allows guests to be “connected” to the Bride & Groom. The River Market Event Place is just that kind of Kansas City wedding reception venue. A rather long venue (about 80′ x 40′),  the River Market Event Place has one wall that is made up of 4, very large, glass garage doors that open onto a patio area. A nice, open-air touch, especially when the weather is as beautiful as it was on the evening of the open house.

On one end of the room,  you’ll find a balcony that rises about 4′ above the main floor, an inviting place for guests to get a birds eye view of the dance floor and/or for a head table.

The River Market Event Place offers a kitchen area for caterers, a moderate size conference area for business meetings and a wood burning fireplace that can add a special, warm ambiance to a winter wedding celebration. But, for me. one of the really neat things about the venue is the white wall above the fireplace that becomes a focal point when used to display a couple’s monogram or to project a video.

The other cool thing about Kansas City’s River Market Event Placeis that it is so new and “simple” in design that couples can really use their imagination when considering a room layout. Think of it as painting on a blank canvas. With its bright white walls, uplighting can also transform the room into any color, or any combination of colors, in the rainbow and beyond. Personally, I see a number of very creative possibilities that can bring out the very best in a couple’s personality and style to create the perfect atmosphere for the ideal Kansas City wedding reception.

Owned and operated by a small group of commercial and wedding photographers, those that reserve the River Market Event Place for their celebration will revel in the assistance that comes from their artistic and creative eye. Few other Kansas City wedding venues offer such design flexibility.

Depending on the type of event the River Market Event Place can hold 150 family and friends for a ceremony & reception or 200 for a cocktail reception.

River Market Event Place clients are more than welcome to bring in their own vendors including liquor and catering, but they do have a preferred list that will potentially save them money.

If clients book the River Market Event Place before December 31, 2010, they will save 20% on the space.

The venue is so new that they’re still building their web site. So, the best thing to do is to check it out the River Market Event Place yourself. You can give them a call for a personal tour at 888-474-1881 or email them at RiverMarketEventPlace@gmail.com. You’re also invited to visit the River Market Event Place Facebook page.
