I’ve shared a number of videos containing surprise marriage proposals from the fun to the extreme. But, there are also proposals of marriage that convey a love and passion that obviously comes straight from the heart.
Lindy Gonzalez planned a welcoming party as a surprise for her boyfriend, U.S. Army Specialist Michael Smith on his return from duty in Afghanistan on Friday evening, December 9, 2011. What she didn’t know was that the entire welcoming party was also in on a surprise that had been planned by Smith…to ask Lindy to be his Bride.
When his delayed flight finally arrived in Miami, Smith stepped off the plane and immediately got down on one knee and presented Ms. Gonzales with an engagement ring.
“Will you marry me?” he asked his stunned girlfriend, who needed a minute to fully comprehend exactly what was happening.
“Yes!” she replied as cheers came from passengers, airline employees and the friends and family who were in on the surprise marriage proposal looked on.
Smith, of course, didn’t mind that TV cameras were also capturing the special moment. The couple, who live in Oregon, were meeting up in South Florida so Smith could meet her family.
